George Read AGriculture
Exploring Agriscience
Welcome to phase 3 of the George Read redesign! Over the past 2 years we have built 5 raised beds and 2 greenhouses. Students have grown a variety of fruits and vegetables, planted a rain garden, learned to take care of our classroom pets (Leo the rabbit & Luna and Lola the chinchillas), and hatched chicken eggs! This year we are excited to join forces with the GRMS culinary department to enjoy a garden to table experience.
About the Course
Exploring Agriscience will allow students to participate in hands-on activities and projects that will provide them with relevant, real world experience in the agriculture industry. The program is designed to enable all students to have a variety of experiences in the field of agriculture and prepare students for the ag program at William Penn High School.
Topics of instruction may include agricultural science, plant science, animal science, environmental science and FFA.
Many topics and activities are weather dependent and may vary from marking period to marking period.
